Clearwing, A Clair Global Brand has designed and integrated a new sound system at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, delivering a next-level fan experience through carefully considered audio reinforcement.
Elevating Fan Experiences Through Strategic Audio
As the home of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers NCAA Division I men’s basketball team, the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals and the MASL’s Milwaukee Wave, patrons are a vibrant and dedicated sports community requiring a substantial sound system for the high-octane action.
With flexible seating for up to 12,700 attendees, including 8,000 permanent seats, this versatile venue also hosts live entertainment productions and events year-round, meaning a new system would have to adapt accordingly.
Clearwing’s strategically located Milwaukee, WI office was chosen to integrate a cutting-edge system designed for consistent coverage and overall sonic quality would be key to this upgrade.
For the seating and floor areas, output ability, fidelity, clarity and tonality are delivered through L-Acoustics A Series medium-throw loudspeakers, chosen for both performance and sightline discretion.
The arena’s East and West seating areas benefit from three arrays per side, combining 5 x A15i Focus loudspeakers and a single A15i Wide speaker, supported by two suspended KS21i subwoofers. At the North and South ends, four full-range arrays, again using the A15i Focus, and a further two KS21i subwoofer arrays are utilized.
Additionally, to provide impactful coverage across the arena floor, two down-firing arrays (two A15i Focus and two A15i Wide) were positioned to project crystal clear audio feeds directly into the areas below.
The system is powered by six L-Acoustics LA7.16 amplifiers for the main arrays and two LA12X amplifiers for the subwoofers. For system performance optimization, Clearwing supplied an L-Acoustics P1 Digital Audio Processor & Measurement Platform (20x8 mic/line).
For seamless end-user operation and sound system zoning, a QSC Q-SYS Core 8 Flex processor is paired with 10-inch touch panel controllers to create a custom interface.
Delivered on time and to budget, the venue now offers players a new era of fan engagement, elevating the spectator experience through Clearwing’s precision engineering - perfect for game day entertainment and beyond.
