Central Christian Church in Mesa, AZ had insufficient audio coverage with five arrays that did not provide the room with full sound. The church decided to upgrade to Martin’s MLA compact speakers, and chose Clearwing to perform the install.
Demo began on a Sunday afternoon and was completed the same evening. The five arrays were removed, and the existing subwoofers were detached from the stage walls to be repurposed into the stage floor. Positioning for four new arrays began on Sunday evening to prepare for the installation of the new rigging hardware.
Clearwing accomplished this shift using two boom lifts on plywood to protect the carpeted floor, and had riggers in the ceiling on harnesses. Once the points for the new arrays were outlined on the floor, the holes were drilled in the ceiling to place the new structure. By late Wednesday, the first speakers were hung, and by Friday, all four arrays were installed.
Clearwing’s Production Department supplied temporary cabling to install the speakers in the ceiling during the first week. Afterward, new signal and power lines were run from the arrays to the equipment room and breaker panel. Due to increased power consumption, Clearwing renovated a sequenced Lyntec breaker panel with larger breakers for the arrays. Once the cabling was complete, the temporary cabling was removed; and because all- temp cabling was used in the ceiling, it was inconspicuous to all but technical staff in the affected back of house area.
